Whereas, The 2015 RID National Conference takes a great deal of financial investment; and

Whereas, RID is committed to offering a valuable and enjoyable conference experience at an affordable cost; and

Resolution B

Whereas, The National Conference Committee, conference staff, and RID national office staff has organized a conference with many participants and a large number of continuing education unit (CEU) opportunities, has engendered significant deaf community involvement, employed the concept of deaf and hearing co-chairs, better employed the concept of cultural diversity, and organized a truly enjoyable and educational conference; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, That the membership of the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf expresses its full support and congratulations to the 2015 National Conference Committee, conference staff, and national office staff for their outstanding work.

 


Resolution C

Whereas, The educational component of the 2015 RID National Conference offered a variety of professional development opportunities covering a wide range of topics and disciplines in the field of professional sign language interpretation and transliteration; and

Whereas, Speakers and presenters at the 2015 RID National Conference have committed their time, attention, and expertise to provide a wide range and depth of topics to the program schedule; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, That the membership of the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf expresses its sincere appreciation to the speakers and presenters at the 2015 RID National Conference.

 


Resolution D

Whereas, The members of the RID councils, national committees, task forces, work groups, and member sections serve the organization with impeccable work ethic and passion; and

Whereas, Council, national committee, task force, work group, and member section members devote countless hours, often away from their families and jobs, in their collective desire to advance the profession, and

Whereas, Tremendous progress has been made to RID programs and services during the service of these volunteer leaders; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, That the membership of the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf expresses its sincere appreciation for the service of the members of the 2013-2015 RID councils, national committees, task forces, work groups, and member sections.

 


Resolution E

Whereas, The 2015 RID National Conference support staff members served long hours with no pay and little compensation for travel and meals, and

Whereas, They worked from very early in the morning until very late at night, and

Whereas, They were a key component to the success of the national conference; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, That the membership of the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf expresses its sincere appreciation for the dedicated service of the 2015 RID National Conference support staff members.

 


Resolution F

Whereas, The 2015 RID National Conference Interpreters are on a national platform in front of their peers and colleagues, working tirelessly to provide communication access for the 2015 RID National Conference, and

Whereas, They are an essential element to the success of the 2015 RID National Conference; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, That the membership of the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf expresses its sincere appreciation for the service of the 2015 RID Conference Interpreters.

 


Resolution G

Whereas, The RID Headquarters staff often works long hours, and

Whereas, They have provided invaluable support to the Board of Directors and the membership in championing many operational initiatives while the Executive Director search was conducted and concluded, and

Whereas, They have shown their commitment to the growth and development of the organization; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, That the membership of the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf expresses its sincere appreciation for the service of the RID Headquarters staff.

 


Resolution H

Whereas, The planning and execution of each RID National Conference is a multi-year effort, typically involving RID Board and staff, local host committee members, and venue conference management staff; and

Whereas, The 2015 RID National Conference is being held at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans; and

Whereas, The Hyatt Regency New Orleans has provided outstanding accommodations, service, and amenities, as well as fine dining; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, That the membership of the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf expresses its sincere appreciation and gratitude to the Hyatt Regency New Orleans and its staff for hosting the 2015 RID National Conference.

 


Resolution I

Resolution affirming the RID Board of Directors’ commitment to fostering a linguistically accessible environment during the entirety of the 2015 national conference.

Reaffirming the RID Board of Directors’ continued commitment of using sign language as their communication choice for the duration of conference.

Noting that the 2015 National Conference concludes the 50th year anniversary celebrations.

Stressing that the RID Board of Directors is committed to hosting a successful 2015 National Conference.

Urges all conference participants to foster a linguistically accessible environment during business and social settings throughout the entirety of the conference.

Encourages all conference participants to join the RID Board of Directors’ commitment to using sign language as their communication choice during the entirety of the conference.

 


Resolution J

Resolved, That all RID Conferences, Affiliate Chapters, regional and national make every effort to solicit and patronize Deaf owned and/or Deaf friendly businesses and individuals first when purchasing supplies or hiring vendors.

 


Resolution K

Resolved, That it is the sense of the membership that the National RID bylaws should contain only neutral pronouns, and be it further resolved that the RID Board shall take all steps necessary to ensure that appropriate amendments are brought to the 2017 RID conference business meeting for membership approval.

 


Resolution L

Whereas, Board of Directors members exercise all corporate powers of the association, perform the duties of one’s position as specified in the RID Bylaws and as prescribed by the voting membership, the Board of Directors, or as required by law; supervise the chief executive officer of the corporation, approve the budget of the corporation annually, providing a comprehensive corporate report no later than ninety days after the end of each fiscal year, and serve as liaisons to Councils, committees, task forces, and member sections; and

Whereas, serving as an elected or appointed member of the RID Board of Directors entails a substantial commitment of time and energy; and

Whereas, Board of Directors membership is voluntary, with no compensation and only modest reimbursement for expenses; and now,

Whereas, the outgoing members of the RID Board of Directors whom we recognize today all served tirelessly and admirably with unwavering commitment to the growth and development of the organization; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, That the membership of the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf expresses its sincere appreciation to the following individuals for their service to the association and to the profession, and wish them well in their future endeavors; and be it further

Resolved, That a framed, individual copy of this resolution shall be presented to each individual in recognition of their service to RID.
