Michelle “Mish” Ktejik
REGION V REPRESENTATIVE
Mish Ktejik, MA, NIC, SC:L, has been interpreting since 2004 when she began volunteering as a student interpreter at UW-Milwaukee under the watchful eye of a supportive and warm Deaf community. With their encouragement, she moved to Washington, D.C. in 2006 and graduated from Gallaudet University in 2009 with an MA degree in Linguistics and an MA degree in Interpretation. Nationally certified since 2009, Mish mostly worked as a freelance interpreter in DC/MD/VA area until moving to the Pacific Northwest in 2013. She’s found a wonderful life in the Portland/Vancouver area. She balances her time with friends and nature as well as involving herself in the local ASL community.
Since 2004, Mish has held volunteer roles in a number of RID affiliate chapters such as WisRID, PCRID, and currently ORID. Mish teaches full time in the Sign Language Interpreting Program at Portland Community College. She is passionate about learning, teaching, and having a positive impact on the ASL community. She is excited to join the RID board as Region V Representative and looks forward to continuing to support the community.
