How to Earn CEUs

Participants must work with an RID-Approved Sponsor to earn CEU credits. You can locate a sponsor under the RID searchable databases or you can request a listing from the director of education at the national office.

Activities That Earn CEUs

The most important strategy in accruing your CEUs is to plan ahead so that you don’t miss key opportunities to earn CEUs.

There are four ways to earn CEUs:

Academic coursework taken from an accredited institution
RID-approved sponsor initiated activities
Participant-initiated non-RID activities
Independent study activities

The chart below provides more information about these four options:

Options	How to use the option	Forms
College Courses	Contact an RID Sponsor to process the appropriate forms Complete the course (Can be done retro-active, as long as it is done and completed within that cycle). Submit final documentation to the Sponsor	Academic Coursework Activity Plan and Report
RID Sponsored Workshops	Make sure CEUs for the workshop are offered by an RID Sponsor (look for the CMP logo on the flyers) Register for and attend the workshop Sign the Activity Report Form and record the Activity number for your own documentation. (Make sure you have your RID member number)	Activity Report Form
Non-RID Conferences or Seminars	Obtain information about the conference, workshop or seminar you want to attend Contact an RID Sponsor prior to attending to process the form Attend the conference or seminar and collect the appropriate documentation Send the documentation to the sponsor	Participant Initiated Non-RID Activity (Cannot be done retro-active, must have approved by a sponsor prior to attending)
Independent Studies	Devise a plan for what you want to learn (you can ask the Sponsor for help in developing this plan) Contact a Sponsor to process the paperwork Document your work as you complete the activity Submit the final product to the Sponsor for approval	Independent Study Plan

CEU Discrepancies

The CMP discrepancy report form should be used when you have missing activities or incorrect CEUs on your transcript.

In order to be credited for missing activities, you must submit verification of having attended the activity (i.e. certificate of attendance).

Please keep in mind that it can take up to 60 days for activities to appear on your transcript.

If you have a discrepancy on your transcript, please complete the CMP discrepancy report form (pdf) and return it to the national office at:

Checking Your Transcript

RID members can log in to their accounts to check their CMP or ACET transcripts. If you've never logged in before, your member number is your user name and your password is the first four letters of your last name and the last four digits of your member number.
