2013 RID National Conference Registration Opens TODAY!
View the Signed Video of this Announcement>>

We are thrilled to announce that registration for the 2013 RID National Conference is now open! This is indeed a special conference for RID as an organization as well as for the interpreter and Deaf communities. We are kicking off RID’s 50th anniversary celebration; a celebration of our organization that started with a meeting at Ball State in Muncie, Indiana in June of 1964, and a celebration of all those who have built and continue to build the RID Legacy today.

As we open registration today, we want to inform you of the wonderful opportunities and experiences available to you at this year’s conference. Conference attendees can expect to see many improvements at the 2013 conference including FastTrack™ automated check-in, a mobile conference app, increased networking opportunities, more entertainment and the return of RID’s semi-formal Closing Banquet. A preliminary conference schedule and program showcasing our 2013 presenters, as well as other conference details are available online at www.rid.org/conferences.

The conference theme, FIFTY & FORWARD: Building on the Legacy, will be carried throughout the week. To honor those that built RID’s foundation, conference attendees will enjoy an interactive memory lane, commemorative opening ceremonies and complimentary coffee breaks with RID pioneers.

For RID’s 25th anniversary, Lou Fant wrote in his book, Silver Threads, “It is doubtful that any of us gathered there on the Ball State campus saw ourselves as pioneers. We knew we were breaking new ground but there is no way we could have imagined that we were setting in motion forces that would culminate in what RID is today.”  We are excited to pay tribute to such humble founders as we gather to learn, celebrate and advance the field together.  And just as Lou did not consider himself a pioneer at the time, the conference is a wonderful opportunity for us to gather as new pioneers breaking ground and laying the foundation for the next 50 years.

We hope you’ll take advantage of the early-bird rates available now through Monday, April 1. We can’t wait to see you in Indy!
