ABOUT RID TASK FORCES

RID has a number of Task Forces:

Member Sections’ Chairs Task Force: The RID Member Sections’ Chairs Task Force was established to enhance the role and function of the RID Member Sections and to establish consistent guidelines for operations that prove beneficial to the RID membership participating in the activities of the RID Member Sections.

National Task Force on Deaf-Blind Interpreting: The National Task Force on Deaf-Blind Interpreting (NTFDBI) represents a collaboration of stakeholder groups, including the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), the American Association of the Deaf-Blind (AADB) and the National Consortium of Interpreter Education Centers (NCIEC).  Other member organizations are the Conference of Interpreter Trainers (CIT), the National Alliance of Black Interpreters (NAOBI) and the National Family Association of the Deaf-Blind (NFADB).  Its mission is to establish a standard of effective practice to ensure the quality and availability of interpreters for deaf-blind people.

Reputable Agencies Task Force: The Reputable Agencies Task Force was created  by CM 2011.02, which states, RID research a mechanism for the identification of reputable agencies and organizations providing sign language interpretation services in community settings and report back to membership by the 2013 RID National Conference.

Tri-Lingual Standard Practice Paper Task Force: The Tri-lingual Standard Practice Paper (SPP) TF will work to develop a best practices paper to be voted on and passed by the RID membership, to address the work of tri-lingual interpreters working between Spanish, English and ASL.
