Join a Committee
Committee Member Qualifications
Specific committees sometime require certain skills for the particular tasks they are responsible for. Learn more about an individual committee>>
To serve on any committee, a member must:
- be a voting member in good standing (member of an affiliate chapter and a certified or associate member of RID)
- be willing to attend conference calls and face-to-face meetings each year
- commit to attend the biennial national conference and pre-conference meetings of the committee
- work cooperatively with other committee members and liaisons
- be accessible to the national office staff and the committee chair.
- have e-mail access and respond in a timely manner as the bulk of committee work is done via e-mail
- be willing to commit to serving a full two-year term
Appointment Process
- A member-wide “call for committee members” announcement is made, which is published in several issues of VIEWS.
- Interested members are asked to submit a copy of their resume and a cover letter along with the committee application (PDF)
- The deadline for committee applications is July 1, 2007
- The appointment process occurs during the years of the RID National Biennial Conference, starting in the early spring of odd-numbered years (2007, 2005, 2003, etc.)
- All committee members are appointed by the RID President with the advice and consent of the board of directors.
- The official committee appointment letters are mailed out in August after the national conference.
