Certified Member Category

A member in the certified member category holds a valid certification accepted by RID. In order to maintain credentials, Certified members must be a member in good standing and meet the requirements of the Certification Maintenance Program (CMP). Certified members holding National Association of the Deaf (NAD) certification must also maintain membership in NAD.

There are three categories for non-practicing certified members. Members in these categories are not considered currently certified and do not hold valid credentials.

Certified: Inactive – A member who holds temporarily inactive certification, is not currently interpreting and has put their certification on hold. For more details, contact Member Services.

Certified: Retired – A member who has retired from interpreting and is no longer practicing.

Certified: Emeritus – Honorary category awarded by the board of directors to formerly certified members.
