It is our pleasure to announce this year’s 2019 Community Forum co-moderated by Erin Sanders-Sigmon and Kelly Decker. Join us at the RID National Conference in Providence, Rhode Island on Monday, July 8th, 7:30 to 9:30 pm.
As we all know too well, the field of interpreting has seen significant change. These changes are due to a variety of factors, have these factors brought us closer to or further away from the community? With where we have been and where we are going, are these changes and now norms, sustainable?
We will explore these questions with the foundation of Sustainability as the theme of this year’s forum. This theme will thread throughout our three main speakers’ presentations and small group discussion topics. We envision this to be a collegial community-building experience, a nationwide alliance that will hopefully sustain in strength for generations to come.
The structure of this forum is designed to engage with the Deaf/DeafBlind community and interpreters to ensure the discussions and identified action items sustain in the work of member sections, affiliate chapters, and national level regional representation at RID.
As is tradition; the Community Forum is open and welcoming to all members of the community; Deaf/DeafBlind and interpreting, and offered at no cost.
We truly look forward to your presence at this year’s forum. Should you have additional questions, or concerns for Erin and Kelly please do email them at: CommunityForumEngagement@gmail.com
