Workshop Description: At the core of mental health diagnosis, treatment, and recovery is communication. Psychiatry is unique among the medical fields in that communication is such a necessity. No blood test, no medical scan, can see into the mind of a person suffering. Communication is key to this, and at the heart, the Mental Status Examination can be found among all of the myriad of tools that clinicians may use to help those in need. An untrained interpreter may very well work against the needs of the therapeutic milieu without even knowing it. Participants will gain a working understanding of the mental health examination, clinical thought worlds, and the scope of practice of the mental health interpreter as a specialty field.

July 9 – 13:00 pm
