What is a heritage language interpreter? What attributes do heritage language Deaf-parented interpreters possess? How do Deaf-parented interpreters understand the task of interpreting? Join us in exploring these questions and more. Utilizing both small and large group participant-driven discussions, we will unpack what we often label as intuition and explore how this is understood by the majority. How can we, as Deaf-parented interpreters, reframe and highlight the talents and abilities of heritage language signers? The focus of this workshop is Deaf-parented heritage language interpreters. We welcome others without this lived experience to attend, listen and learn.
