April 2018 Final Board Face-to-Face Meeting Update

Hello! I am Branton Stewart, Deaf Member at Large from the RID Board of Directors. I’m here to let you know what’s gone on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday during the Face-to-Face Board Meeting. The Board has worked hard, and really dug into some of the key issues that RID is facing. There are three main things that I’d like to share with you.

The first is that we interviewed CEO candidates on Friday. I want to thank all the membership who submitted feedback on the candidates. We looked over that feedback, and the feedback from headquarters staff in our discussion of the new CEO. The selection of the new CEO will be announced to the membership soon.

The second major thing that we worked on was the strategic plan. You might remember that last November during our Face-to-Face Board Meeting, we worked on identifying the five “big picture” items that define our strategic plan. During this session, we worked on identifying more specific details under each major topic. Now that is finished, the last piece will be to bring these objectives back to the strategic planning committee so they can produce a concise document of the strategic plan in its entirety, ready for you to view this summer.

The third task we worked on was the FY2019 Budget, which is of course of utmost importance. We discussed it, made some adjustments, and we will be ready to vote on it next month. Again, thank you for your support of RID, and we look forward to seeing you at the various regional conferences! Thank you.
