DESCRIPTION:Program Dates: July 31 – August 2\, 2020\nProgram Location: Online at https://whova.com/web/aasw_202007/\nRegistration: https://wou.edu/rrcd/asl-silent-registration/ \nIf you are looking for worthwhile workshops\, great entertainment\, and a chance to sharpen your skills\, then this immersion experience is for you! This will be the 11th year of the Silent Weekend. This is a skill development activity over three days\, conducted completely in ASL. in 2019\, this event brought over 200 participants from Canada and all over the US. \nWe are thrilled to announce Ayiu John Wuol as the 2020 ASL Silent Weekend keynote speaker! \nAyiu John Wuol is a Deaf German citizen\, he currently lives in Munich Germany. Ayiu has a diverse background of education. He started school in Italy from 1975-1990. After that he went to in Sudan/South Sudan from 1990-1991\, he then start school in Egypt at the IT Computer American Oil Trapetco from 1991-1995. In 1995 he went to school in Germany at Education. Ayiu works at Bavaria the Red Cross and Hearing Youths center. He has done many presentations\, such as his World Tour\, the Multicultural African Tribes and Cultural & Traditions. For his world tour\, Ayiu has visited 81 countries and all 4 continents. He is best known for his Facebook and YouTube videos. In the videos\, he finds a hearing person or group of hearing people who don’t know a sign language and communicate with them. His other videos involve him describing and explaining different kinds of animals. \nEveryone! Deaf community members\, ASL students\, interpreting students\, pre-certified and certified interpreters\, ASL teachers and interpreter educators. \nThis ASL Immersion Silent Weekend is pending for approximately 1.9 CEUs by BEI through Texas DHHS and Oregon Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf\, pending for approval RID CMP Sponsor for continuing education activities. \nPre-requisites: Recommended ASL fluency at 2 years or more of study. \nDisclaimers: WOU promotes an environment (online or not) of mutual respect free of discrimination based on gender\, sexual orientation\, race\, religion or any other protected class. \nRefund Policy: The ASL Silent Weekend registration purchases are non-transferable.
