DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
SUMMARY: RID HQ is looking for someone to provide direct administrative and program support within the Division of Programs and Services, with specific assignment within Communications and Publications. The specialist in this position will work primarily within the Communications Department, but will be available to provide support to other Departments within the Division, such as Member Services, during critical or peak times of the year. The primary role within the Communications Department will be to build online courses, design marketing campaigns, and assist with our Publications (including, but not limited to, RID Press). This specialist should be a creative self-starting problem-solver, who is great at details, who can keep a project on track through to completion. Since our publications are bilingual, applicants should be fluent in both American Sign Language and English.
COMMUNICATIONS: Specialist is responsible for supporting the development, coordination, and publication of communications in a variety of print and electronic media for external communications. Specialist will extend RID’s reach to members and stakeholders by drafting content, providing editing support, designing materials and distributing information through the utilization of RID’s communication tools. Specialist will maintain updated press contacts database and distribution lists to all stakeholders, as well as track communications, media hits and responses.
MARKETING: Specialist will develop advertising campaigns, design ads and marketing materials for RID to extend its reach with members and stakeholders. Specialist will contribute to the branding efforts of RID through messaging and graphic design capabilities. Specialist will assist in the development and content of RID’s website properties as well as RID’s presence in social media through Facebook, Twitter and other means.
ONLINE COURSE SUPPORT: Specialist will assist in the implementation and development of online courses for a variety of departments across RID HQ, including Standards & Practice, and Professional Development. This will include adapting existing content to an online format, the implementation of pre- and post-tests, and supporting the Departments within RID HQ who are implementing courses. Specialist may be designing marketing pieces, editing video, editing English content, creating PowerPoint presentations, whatever is needed to produce the course.
PUBLICATIONS: Specialist will assist in the development of RID’s publications, including the quarterly online magazine VIEWS, through ad sales and tracking, and monthly e-mail newsletter RID eNEWS.
OTHER: Specialist will also assist with the following: providing periodic administrative support to Member Services as needed, handling information requests; website maintenance and updates; fielding various member-related questions; offering administrative support to the production of materials related to RID’s conferences and meetings; and assisting in all other duties as assigned.

- Proficiency with MS Office products.
- Proficiency with Google Drive (Documents, Sheets, etc.)
- Ability to work in a team-based environment
- Ability to interact well and employ sensitivity, tact and diplomacy with headquarters staff, members of the board of directors, visitors and members of the association.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Experience with WordPress
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere, and Acrobat (if no experience with Premiere, then iMovie is an acceptable substitute)
- Experience with Issuu
- Knowledge of APA Style
- Experience in publishing, writing, editing, video editing, marketing, public relations, & targeted communications.
