The start date for this position is negotiable. The Sign Language Interpreting Program at Augustana is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Interpreter Education (CCIE). Salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching assignment includes undergraduate courses in American Sign Language,
  • Working with colleagues in maintaining the Sign Language Interpreting Lab,
  • Advising and recruiting students, and providing service to the university and profession;
  • Developing ongoing collaborations with schools, agencies and the community.

Qualifications

  • Earned Master’s degree in Linguistics, ASL Teaching or related field preferred,
  • ASLTA Certification desired as is previous teaching experience,
  • Experience in training interpreters, and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.
  • Preference for native language user.
  • Interacting with students, faculty and leadership with different backgrounds and points of view and a deep appreciation of and respect for academic values and culture must be a top value of the candidate.
