If you are interested in serving on an RID volunteer group, please complete this application and attach your resume. Council and Committee volunteers serve from the conclusion of one biennial national conference to the next biennial conference (2 years). If you have any questions, please email Volunteer@rid.org.

RID strives for diversity at all levels within our volunteer groups, looking at characteristics including, but not limited to, member status, geographical location and identity groups (i.e., race, ethnicity, age, gender, sexual orientation, disability, etc.), as well as area of professional experience and expertise.     RID VOLUNTEER LEADERSHIP AGREEMENT

    This RID VOLUNTEER LEADERSHIP AGREEMENT (the “Agreement”) is made, entered into, and effective as of the date indicated below by (“I” or “me”) as a volunteer leader (“Volunteer Leader”) in favor of Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, Inc., a California nonprofit public benefit corporation, and its directors, officers, employees, volunteers, and agents (collectively, the “Organization” or “RID”).

    I desire to volunteer for the Organization and to engage in activities related to being a Volunteer Leader as described below (the “Activities”). In exchange for being allowed to participate in the Activities as a Volunteer Leader, and for other good and valuable consideration, the receipt and sufficiency of which I acknowledge, I voluntarily and without duress execute this Agreement and agree to the following terms:

    The general duties of Volunteer Leaders shall be:

    • To perform duties as prescribed by the Organization’s Bylaws, the provided scope of work, and/or position description, as applicable;
    • To act as an ambassador to RID to the general membership and to the public;
    • To serve as a liaison to assigned RID committees, councils, task forces, and member sections;
    • To attend all meetings and submit timely required reports;
    • To assist in onboarding incoming members; and
    • To complete an annual self-evaluation reflecting on their performance, growth, and contributions to RID, in alignment with the responsibilities of their role.

    The duties specific to a Volunteer Leader position shall be outlined in the Organization’s Bylaws, or the committee’s/council’s/member section’s Scope of Work or Manual (whichever is applicable), and shall be reviewed during onboarding training. I understand that in no event shall the scope of my Activities include illegal activity that may put myself or others at risk of harm.

    The Organization agrees to provide each Volunteer Leader with the following resources:

    • Access to the Volunteer Leader Resource Center[ET1] , the Organization’s Board of Directors, leadership, and management, and all pertinent resources as reasonably requested and needed for proper performance of duties;
    • Respect for time and effort given in service to RID, and use of their talent effectively; and
    • Appropriate training and support to fulfill their responsibilities, which may include internal orientations, workshops and materials. As well as access or referral to external training opportunities deemed relevant by RID.

    The Volunteer Leader hereby agrees to:

    • Read and agree to comply with Organization’s Bylaws, and Policies and Procedures Manual;
    • Learn about RID’s history and gain institutional knowledge, as made available;
    • Participate in all required training sessions, orientations, or onboarding activities relevant to their role, as determined by RID; and
    • Read, agree to, and comply with RID’s most current volunteer participation policies, incorporated to this Agreement by reference:
