Responsibilities

Teaching responsibilities include face-to-face undergraduate courses in Sign Language Interpreting and ASL. Responsibilities also include recruiting and advising students; providing service to the University and profession; developing ongoing collaborations with schools, agencies, and the community; and engaging in professional development.

Qualifications

Earned Master’s degree in Sign Language Interpreting, or a related area; must be a certified interpreter (BEI, RID, or CASLI) or be willing to earn certification, active in the interpreting profession which may include research, involvement with interpreting organizations, and/or interpreting; and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.

Preferred qualifications:

Previous teaching experience, and experience in training or supervising interpreters. 

Interacting with students, faculty, and leadership with different backgrounds and points of view and a deep appreciation of and respect for academic values and culture must be a top value of the candidate.
