Shift: Work assignments are available between 7 am and 7 pm Monday-Saturday. ***The assignments can be within any 2-hour window in this time frame for most assignments.
Prisma International Corporation, a U.S.-based professional services firm headquartered in Raleigh, NC, specializes in global language access solutions. They operate affiliate companies in Colombia and The Netherlands, serving clients across NOAM, LATAM, and EMEA regions.
Prisma has two main divisions: the first focuses on societal impact through Language Access for underserved minorities. They are certified as a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE, WOSB, EDWOSB) and prioritize values such as quality, responsiveness, and customer-centric solutions.
Currently, Prisma is actively recruiting RID-certified ASL Interpreters as independent contractors. These interpreters will handle in-person appointments at various client locations, primarily in hospitals and medical offices nationwide. Contractors have flexibility in accepting assignments.
Preferred qualifications:
- Possess a high level of skill, proficiency, and professionalism while providing accurate and complete interpretation
- Maintain integrity and confidentiality of all sensitive information
- Facilitate many kinds of conversations – emergencies, medical procedures, legal situations
- Function as a vendor, providing language interpretation services on an IRS Form 1099 basis
- Have interpretation experience
- Possess a professional Certification
- Have completed ASL training and hold a degree/certification in American Sign Language
- Have a 2-4 year degree in interpretation (desired)
- Have completed higher education both in the United States and in programs taught in the other working language
- Have experience in relevant areas other than interpretation (e.g., healthcare)
- Have flexibility to take assignments in your local area and nearby surroundings
Key qualifications include:
- RID Certification
- Advanced, accurate interpretation skills for repeating critical information between English and American Sign Language
- An extensive working knowledge of the NAD-RID Code of Professional Conduct and familiarity with the Americans with Disabilities Act
